Kansas Jayhawks Men’s Basketball Adds Another Transfer Portal Entry

The Kansas Jayhawks' point guard David Coit, who was part of the university's senior men’s basketball team during the recent season, has now joined the NCAA transfer portal. On Monday morning, Coit revealed his decision through social media; he becomes the fourth Kansas player to join the transfer portal following the end of the 2024-25 season. He now aligns with several other frontcourt players. Flory Bidunga and Zach Clemence and freshman guard Rakease Passmore by choosing to depart from Coach Bill Self’s squad. Chiefs' CB Nazeeh Johnson Secures Tender Contract

The Chiefs brought back cornerback Nazeeh Johnson, as reported on Thursday by the team. Johnson, who likewise excels as a key special teamer, was a restricted free agent that the Chiefs had tendered. In 2022, the Chiefs selected him as a seventh-round draft pick. As a newcomer, Johnson didn’t secure a spot on the active team but joined the practice squad instead. In 2022, he took part in 11 matches. He sat out the complete 2023 campaign following an ACL tear during training camp, yet he made his comeback in 2024, playing in 16 games with six of them as starters. Last year, Johnson recorded 56 tackles, one sack, and defended three passes. Last season, Johnson participated in 494 defensive plays and contributed 163 special team snaps.

Archaeologist Unveils Missouri’s Hidden Role in the Trail of Tears

Next month, as part of The State Historical Society of Missouri's ongoing History on Elm series, the literal and historical significance of Missouri in relation to the Trail of Tears will be explored. From noon to 1 p.m. on April 8th, historical archaeologist Erin Whitson will provide her insights into this topic. A native of Steelville and an archaeologist with the Missouri Department of Transportation, Whitson plans to discuss "how archaeological methods can help uncover facets of (Native American) removal that have been previously ignored. She also aims to highlight how cooperative efforts allow descendants to delve into the history within the very locations where their ancestors once lived and perished," as stated in a press release. As a doctoral student at Binghamton University, Whitson is presently examining two sites associated with the Trail of Tears located in the southeastern part of the state, which were established during the years from 1837 to 1839....
