The Speed Safety System Pilot Project was signed by Newsom In October 2023, cities throughout California will be permitted to employ speed cameras to issue fines to motorists. Drivers from lower-income backgrounds qualify for significant discounts should they receive a speeding citation. Speeding fines can vary between $50 and $500. However, people whose household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty line qualify for a 50% reduction in these fees, as stated in the regulations. San Francisco Muni Transport Authority Individuals who are indigent or without homes qualify for an 80% reduction in the cost of their speeding ticket.
