Canadian Actor From 'American Pie' Speaks Out After Being Detained by ICE for 12 Days

Jasmine Mooney has broken her silence following she was arrested by the United States U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained her.

Following a period of 12 days across various establishments in the Southwest, the American Pie Presents: The Book of Love the actor stated during an interview with CTV News At the Vancouver International Airport on Saturday, she said she was "still processing" precisely what occurred to her.

"I haven't had sleep for some time and haven't consumed real meals in ages, so I'm merely going through the motions," she shared. the network.

On March 3, Mooney was apprehended when she crossed the San Ysidro border from Mexico into San Diego. She possessed an unfinished form for a TN work visa under NAFTA; her initial approval had been suddenly rescinded. according to her mother, Alexis Eagles.

The Eagles stated that her daughter was kept at the border for three nights before being moved to the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego for an additional three days.

She spoke to ABC's Channel 10 News San Diego From the facility, she described experiencing "inhumane" conditions, including sleeping on a mat without a pillow or blanket, covered with aluminum foil around her body as though she were a deceased person for two and a half days.

An online tracking system subsequently showed that Mooney had been discharged, but it later turned out she was actually moved to the San Luis Detention Center in Arizona.

Mooney later confirmed that she arrived home in a since-expired Instagram Story, thanking everyone who reached out to her.

“I’m sorry if I haven't been able to respond to everyone — just got home after what felt like escaping a deeply disturbing psychological experiment,” her message began. “I am beyond grateful for my friends, family, and the media who worked tirelessly to get me out — without them, I’d still be there. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone.”

She continued: “While I was in prison, I began writing an essay about my experience, which I will be sharing soon. I refuse to let what happened break me; instead, I’m choosing to use my voice in the hope that it can help others.”

Speaking to CTV News, Mooney claimed she was given no information about why she was being detained or when she would be able to leave. “No one told me anything. Not once,” she said. “I still don’t even know how I’m home.”

When questioned about whether she felt remorse for attempting to apply for a new visa, she responded to the publication with "absolutely."

If I had known that such a scenario was remotely possible, not to mention likely, there’s absolutely no way I would have ever set foot there," Mooney stated. "Let me tell you, since the moment I arrived until right now, I am still struggling to comprehend everything that transpired.

A representative from ICE verified for People On Monday, it was reported that Mooney was arrested on March 3 "due to lack of proper documentation" to remain in the U.S., and that she underwent "processing consistent with" President Donald Trump's "Securing Our Borders" executive order.

"All extraterrestrial individuals who have violated U.S. immigration laws can face arrest, detainment, and if determined to be deportable through a final order, they could also be removed from the country, irrespective of their national origin," the spokesperson added.
