Des Moines Airport Set to Resume Nonstop Flights to L.A.
Following Allegiant Air’s announcement earlier this month that they would terminate its continuous seasonal service to Los Angeles From Des Moines International Airport, an additional airline is launching a new non-stop service to America's second-biggest metropolis.
American Airlines announced plans for daily flights to Los Angeles International Airport beginning in October.
By adding this route, American Airlines will provide direct flights to a total of nine destinations from Des Moines. These include Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C., as well as seasonal trips to Miami and new services heading to Philadelphia starting in June.

The announcement restores Des Moines International's direct flight destinations to a total of 33.
We're delighted that American Airlines is introducing direct flights from Des Moines to LAX," stated Kevin Foley, the airport’s executive director. "This new route will offer greater travel options within California as well as improve connections to Hawaii, Asia, and various points throughout the Pacific.
What caused Allegiant to discontinue its service between Des Moines and Los Angeles?
The non-stop service from Allegiant to Los Angeles was operational seasonally, anticipated to operate from May through August.
However, the airline shut down its crew base in Los Angeles in September, a facility that was established in 2009 because of increasing airport charges, as reported. Airways Magazine .
