Iowa Native Eric Mulder Joins Cyclones: Iowa State Snags Purdue-Fort Wayne Transfer
Iowa State basketball Has obtained its initial pledge since the transfer portal launched this week.
Eric Mulder, who hails from Oskaloosa and played as a starter for Purdue-Fort Wayne for two years, declared his commitment to join the Cyclones through social media on Thursday morning. He still has one year of eligibility left.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward is set to come back to his native state after spending three seasons with the Mastodons. During this last campaign, he recorded an average of 8.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per contest, maintaining a field-goal percentage of 76.3%. However, he had to sit out for eight matches due to a foot injury around midseason; despite this setback, he played in 24 total games and started in 23 of them.

During his initial three years at Purdue-Fort Wayne, Mulder participated in 91 matches, with 58 of those being starts in the final two seasons.
He excels as a physically robust player with strong skills in rebounding, particularly when it comes to offensive rebounds. Although Mulder doesn’t extend the perimeter game, he proves effective close to the hoop where he consistently finishes well near the basket. Per KenPom statistics, he led nationally in offensive ratings and ranked second in field-goal percentage within the area just shy of the three-point line, hitting shots at an impressive rate of 78.1%. From the foul line this campaign, he managed 20 successful attempts out of 39 tries (51.3%), bringing his overall free-throw average over his career up to 45.7% from the stripe.
Prior to his collegiate basketball career, he excelled both on the basketball court and football field during his time at Pella Christian High School. As a senior, he earned first-team all-state honors and contributed significantly to his team’s success. Eagles to the state semifinals.
Mulder is the initial addition as part of the Cyclones' initiative to strengthen their frontcourt. Alongside returning conference star Joshua Jefferson and new commitments Dominykas Pleta and Xzavion Mitchell, they must find replacements for Brandon Chatfield and outgoing transfers Dishon Jackson and J.T. Rock.
