Kohl's Closes Scores of Stores: Complete List Reveals Which Ones Are Affected

On January 9, Kohl's declared that they plan to close 27 "underperforming stores" spread across 15 states by April 2025. According to recent information posted on their website, several of these locations have been identified for closure. would shutter on March 29 If they haven't done so already, this will decrease the number of open Kohl's locations across the U.S. to 1,123 stores.

Kohl's has also stated that it will close its San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center in California by this May because of advancements in technology and an emphasis on processing orders directly from stores.

Employees at the impacted stores are said to have received attractive severance offers or the opportunity to apply for other positions currently available within Kohl's.

“We always approach these decisions with great seriousness,” stated Tom Kingsbury, who serves as the CEO of Kohl’s, in the organization's official press release As we proceed with our long-term growth plan, it’s crucial that we also undertake challenging yet essential steps to ensure the well-being and sustainability of our company for both our customers and team members.

The news comes as CNN reports Kohl's stock has fallen roughly 40% over the past six months, as many brick-and-mortar department stores across the country struggle to stay open.
