Lambert Airport Hits a 17-Year High in Traveler Numbers Since 2003
ST. LOUIS — Lambert International Airport experienced its highest passenger traffic in more than 20 years as outlined in a recent yearly report.
The report states over 15.9 million passengers traveled through Lambert in 2024, which is the most the airport has seen since 2003, when 20.5 million passengers flew through the airport.
This new high beats the previous high mark in 2019 when 15.8 million travelers made their way through the airport, marking last year’s travel as a significant sign of growth since the pandemic, according to Lambert.
Also last year, the number showed a 7.1 percent rise from 2023, with 14.8 million passengers going through Lambert.
We are extremely satisfied with last year's performance, and we anticipate this trend will continue to rise over the next few years," stated Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, STL Airport Director, in a press statement. "The recently observed 20-year peak underscores the robustness of our partnerships with airlines and highlights the backing we get from the community as we collectively work towards expanding STL.
In July of 2024, the airport experienced its most bustling period with 1.5 million travelers passing through during that single month.
Based on the airport’s yearly report, Southwest Airlines accounts for more than 63 percent of the air traffic, with American Airlines coming second at 13.3 percent, and Delta Airlines following closely behind at 9.7 percent.
