Lions' Tight End Sam LaPorta Speaks Out on Ben Johnson’s Move to the Bears

LaPorta recently spoke with Kay Adams And talked about his previous offensive coordinator, expressing happiness for Johnson, yet noting that friendships have transformed into enmities.

“Absolutely, I’m thrilled for Ben; he was among the primary factors behind my recruitment to the Lions, so I hold only admiration for him,” LaPorta stated. “This autumn’s Sunday afternoons will see former teammates become opponents, which naturally stings. We’ve spent considerable time together, pouring in substantial amounts of energy, effort, and hard work. While it’s exhilarating to witness him take charge of his own squad, it’s also an incredibly thrilling period for all of us as we shift focus toward our newly assembled coaching team.”

The competition between Chicago and Detroit has become even more intriguing heading into the upcoming season. The Bears are optimistic that Johnson will bring his successful offensive strategies from Detroit to Chicago.
