Miley Cyrus Unveils 'Prelude': A Sneak Peek into Her Pop Opera 'Something Beautiful'

In Miley Cyrus's newest music video for "Prelude," she remains absent from the screen until the last minute. During the initial 90 seconds crafted alongside directors Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, all attention centers on her powerful vocal performance during a spoken-word monologue. This opening act serves effectively as the curtains rising onstage. Something Beautiful, The upcoming 13-song pop opera from Cyrus is set to drop on May 30. As per YouTube, the official music video for "Something Beautiful," which comes after "Prelude," will be released at noon EST on March 31.

"As when watching scenery pass by through a train window / Your gaze cannot prevent the fleeting landscapes from dissolving into boundless space. / As when clutching a handful of ash — your fingers can’t hold onto what’s already dispersed into thin air,” Cyrus states in the video, speaking rhythmically although not actually singing. “As when feeling heat from sunlight streaming through glass—your skin senses warmth yet you remain separate from where this warmth brings life. / Like wandering solo through a vivid dreamscape—or calling out your own name loudly within an unoccupied chamber.”

As she emerges moments later, shimmering in a 1997 Thierry Mugler haute couture dress from the archives, she proceeds with her statement: “It’s like observing my form reflected in a mirror yearning for visibility, longing to materialize./Yet, the allure discovered in solitude is akin to a plea wanting companionship.” The music intensifies into a powerful surge of auditory sensation when the artist's moniker and the record's title appear onscreen. During the clip, vivid depictions of rare blossoms periodically break up lengthy periods of obscurity.
