Top Nation's Receiver Joins North Crowley, Sparking a Surge in Recruiting Interest

One of North Crowley’s major hurdles heading into the 2025 football season would be finding replacements. All-American wide receiver Quentin Gibson, who is associated with Under Armour, , the MaxPreps National Player of the Year.

But after securing the title for Class 6A Division I state championships In North Crowley, they've brought aboard an exceptional wide receiver from the top tier of the Class of 2028. This addition is causing his stock to rise sharply among college recruiters.

After Damarion Mays caught 68 passes for 1,640 yards and scored 14 touchdowns during his freshmen year, earning him recognition, he transferred from Life Oak Cliff to North Crowley. MaxPreps Freshman All-America Second Team Mays (6-3, 184) has received over two dozen collegiate offers so far, which include institutions such as Georgia, Arizona State, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

Almost all of Mays' proposals have been received since early January. According to his latest posts on X (previously known as Twitter), the newest offers came from Tennessee, Oklahoma State, and OU.

Gibson, a Colorado signee, experienced one of the most remarkable seasons in state history Last year, as he led North Crowley to a perfect 16-0 record and their first state championship since 2003, he achieved an impressive feat with 93 receptions totaling 2,009 yards and scoring 36 touchdowns. This performance allowed him to break the Dallas-area record for touchdown catches in one season, placing his total at fourth highest statewide historically.

Gibson surpassed star NFL wide receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CeeDee Lamb, Marvin Mims and Garrett Wilson on the single-season state touchdown list. Gibson also had the 10th-most receiving yards in a season in state history, according to the website Texas High School Football History.

Despite finishing third in the MaxPreps national rankings, North Crowley must now rebuild after losing some crucial members of their high-scoring team. The squad managed to rack up 864 points over the course of the season—the highest point total ever recorded for a single year within the Dallas area and among the top scores statewide at number sixteen. Departing stars include All-American QB Chris Jimerson Jr., O-line standout Henry Fenuku, and dynamic RB Cornelius Warren III; however, North Crowley still has hopes riding on returning players. five-star attacking lineman John Turntine III , ranked as the third-most promising recruit in Texas for the Class of 2026.
