Trump Ally Pledges $5 Billion Investment in Britain

The major American technology company established by One of Donald Trump’s most prominent wealthy supporters was a billionaire. has pledged to invest £3.9 billion in Britain.

Over the course of the next half-decade, Larry Ellison’s Oracle announced plans to enhance its data center infrastructure and facilitate increased adoption of artificial intelligence among various enterprises through this significant investment.

Mr. Ellison, who ranks as the world’s fifth wealthiest individual with a net worth of $169 billion, established the firm back in 1977 and currently holds the positions of executive chairman and chief technology officer at the company.

He has strongly supported Mr. Trump and is also a close associate of Elon Musk, having previously served on Tesla's board and invested in the tycoon's acquisition of Twitter.

Mr. Ellison was involved in a $100 billion "Stargate" artificial intelligence initiative that was unveiled on Mr. Trump's first full day as President of the White House.

Oracle, among the globe's leading suppliers of cloud computing, announced a $5 billion investment aimed at "catering to the swiftly increasing demand for its cloud services within the UK."

The statement indicated that it would entail developing their cloud infrastructure in the UK; however, they didn’t specify if this development would include erecting new data centers or enlarging current facilities. Presently, the firm operates locations in London and Newport.

AI systems demand substantial computational resources, which are generally found in "hyperscale" data centers. The Labor party has placed emphasis on simplifying their construction in Britain .

The government is already a major Oracle client, with various departments such as Work and Pensions, Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and Home Office utilizing its services.

Mr Ellison, who is 80 years old, strongly supports Sir Tony Blair and has committed $375 million to the former prime minister’s Institute for Global Change. Additionally, he has provided funding worth $1 billion for an institute focused on technology in Oxford, aimed at assisting British startups to more effectively monetize their research findings.

Siobhan Wilson, who leads Oracle in the UK, stated: "The UK Government has a distinct vision: leveraging AI to propel the nation’s future."

“Today’s announcement solidifies Oracle’s dedication to backing this vision.”

Peter Kyle, the Technology Secretary, stated: "The UK is committed to being at the forefront of AI innovation globally, and Oracle's announcement today underscores our country's increasing prowess in this field."

This $5 billion investment will speed up our AI goals, offering advanced cloud infrastructure to businesses and public services. This initiative aims to boost productivity, improve security measures, and open up new avenues for expansion—moving our Plan for Change ahead.

If President Trump insists on compelling its Chinese owners to divest, Oracle could be poised to acquire TikTok’s U.S. business. According to reports from Politico over the weekend, discussions between the company and the administration have picked up pace recently.
