Spice Trail: A Gastronomic Journey Through American Kitchens

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — In this week’s edition of Restaurant Road Trip, 12 News stopped by Kitchen and Spice. The eatery made its grand opening on November 15th with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally welcome itself to the local community. back in February .

When co-owners Brandon Ross and Jason Snyder discussed crafting the perfect idea for Kitchen and Spice, their aim was to create something they believed the community would appreciate having.

Kitchen and Spice emphasizes using fresh ingredients and preparing our dishes from scratch," Chef Ross mentioned, as he is part of the culinary team at the establishment. "We aim to deliver the finest quality meals possible to serve our local community.

Ross informed 12 News that throughout the last several months, the reaction from the local population has been incredibly favorable. Both he and Snyder had been searching for a suitable spot for their eatery for over twelve months before they finally settled on Nutter Fort. Their decision was influenced by hosting a popup event there and appreciating the ambiance of the area.

Ross emphasized, "We truly want to highlight the importance of going local." This includes shopping locally, dining locally, and backing local businesses.

The eatery features a made-to-order menu, characterized by Ross as somewhat restricted. Nonetheless, Kitchen and Spice provides a grab-and-go section stocked with an array of non-menu options should you be short on time or pressed for minutes during your midday respite.

"You can come in, quickly pick up something high-quality, and leave with a fantastic meal," stated Ross.

Both Ross and Snyder informed 12 News that one of their top-selling dishes is the cheeseburger, offered in various forms.

I've been informed by several individuals that this is the finest cheeseburger available in the county," Snyder stated. "A few have gone so far as to say it's the best they've ever tasted.

“Additionally, we believe that our top-notch sausage hoagie is unbeatable,” Ross mentioned. “Therefore, I suggest visitors should stop by and sample one of them during their initial trip here.”

Kitchen and Spice provides its signature spice blends, featuring four distinct spices incorporated into majority of their dishes. Both Ross and Snyder handle the preparation, selection, packaging, and branding of these spices before selling them within the establishment.

Fuel costs surge in West Virginia; could tariffs be responsible?

If you're not into eating meat, the restaurant offers several vegetarian choices in their grab-and-go section, such as the portabella mushroom hoagie. According to Ross, when crafting these vegetarian meals, they don't just remove the meat and replace it with mushrooms for this particular sandwich. Instead, they design it as a distinct dish, using components chosen specifically to enhance its taste.
