Jasmine Cephas Jones Adds Her Talent to the 'Lanterns' DC Show on HBO
EXCLUSIVE: Jasmine Cephas Jones ( Origin , Blindspotting ) has become part of the cast for Lanterns , HBO's forthcoming drama series inspired by the Green Lantern The DC comic will join the previously announced ensemble which includes Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.
The show created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King centers around rookie John Stewart (played by Pierre) and legendary Lantern Hal Jordan (portrayed by Chandler). These two space law enforcement officers find themselves entangled in an enigmatic case rooted on Earth when they delve into a homicide occurring within the center of America.
In an important guest appearance, Cephas Jones portrays 'Young Bernadette,' Stewart’s tenacious mom and the go-to problem solver for the entire clan. Known for her insightful approach and ability to see the broader perspective, she sets high standards both for herself and those around her.
HBO creates the eight-part series Lanterns In collaboration with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios, Mundy, serving as the showrunner, along with Lindelof and King, both of whom co-wrote and served as executive producers. The directorial role was handled by James Hawes, also an executive producer, alongside Stephen Williams and Geeta Vasant Patel. Alik Sakharov was also brought on board as the director.
Cephas Jones' latest accolades include work for Neon’s Origin , Starz’s Blindspotting , for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead, #FREERAYSHAWN, for which she claimed an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series, and Hamilton , for which she received a Grammy Award for Best Original Broadway Recording. Additionally, her complete album, Phoenix It has been released and is available for listening across all platforms. Additionally, in terms of her musical endeavors, she portrays the character "Swan" in the concept album created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis. Warriors for Atlantic Records.
