PHOTOS: St. Louis Celebrates Grand Opening in 2025

ST. LOUIS – The opening day for the St. Louis Cardinals stands out as a unique tradition. Thousands of people head to downtown St. Louis each year to partake in celebrations and watch the team play their inaugural match of the fresh St. Louis Cardinals season.

The festivities started well before sunrise as some supporters made their way to downtown St. Louis very early. Large crowds gathered for downtown pep rallies held at Ballpark Village and Kiener Plaza.

Supporters could access Busch Stadium three hours before the game started. However, batting practice for both teams was called off because of sporadic rain showers in the late afternoon.

Additional festivities are planned to follow. The on-field Opening Day ceremonies are expected to take place at approximately 2:30 p.m., assuming favorable weather conditions. Attendees will have the opportunity to see both current and former St. Louis Cardinals players as well as Budweiser’s famous Clydesdale horses being brought onto the field in Ford vehicles.

The first pitch of the home opener is set for 3:15 p.m. Stay tuned with FOX 2 both online and on social media channels for additional updates through the day.
