NASA subsequently needed to locate another method for returning the astronauts safely, all while making sure that the space station remains adequately staffed.

The initial launch planned for Wednesday was canceled when SpaceX couldn’t resolve a hydraulic problem affecting the clamp arm used to hold the rocket prior to liftoff.

This marks the tenth journey conducted by SpaceX for ferrying astronauts to and from the space station, indicated by the team’s designation. The members of Crew-10 include Anne McClain representing NASA, Nichole Ayers also from NASA, Takuya Onishi affiliated with JAXU, and Kirill Peskov who is part of Roscosmos.

This mission marks the inaugural space flight for Ayers and Peskov, while it serves as the second journey into space for McClain and Onishi.

Williams and Wilmore have both made three journeys into space.
