Moroccan Minister Calls Health a 'Vast Field of Action' for Franco-Moroccan Cooperation
Health is “a vast field of action” for Franco-Moroccan cooperation, which is now gaining new momentum, Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection Amine Tehraoui said, at the kick-off of a scientific day on the evaluation of health cooperation between Morocco and France.
At this meeting, attended by diplomats and members of the scientific and medical realms of both countries as part of the “Franco-Moroccan Health Day”, organized jointly by the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco and the National Academy of Medicine of France, the Minister highlighted the excellence of relations between Morocco and France, particularly in the fields of health and scientific research.
Recalling that His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of the latter’s recent state visit to the Kingdom, jointly expressed their keenness to strengthen the strategic partnership between Morocco and France, including in the field of health, Tehraoui deemed the action of both countries’ health academies as part of this momentum, based on bilateral dialogue and scientific exchange contributing to the improvement of public health.
He welcomed the signature, the previous day between the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco and France’s National Academy of Medicine, of a framework agreement for cooperation in the medical, scientific and intellectual fields, which aims to promote partnerships and exchanges between the two academies, hospitals, faculties of medicine and research institutions in both countries.
Tehraoui also welcomed this initiative as a major step towards strengthening exchanges in the fields of health and research, and expressed trust in the positive outcomes of this cooperation, conceived as a long-term strategy in favor of people’s well-being.
The minister took the opportunity to reaffirm Morocco’s commitment, at the impetus of His Majesty the King, to placing health at the heart of national priorities, through a far-reaching reform of the healthcare system.
The “Franco-Moroccan Health Day”, held at the headquarters of the National Academy of Medicine in Paris, brings together a number of experts and professors specializing in the hospital and training fields, to highlight Franco-Moroccan cooperation and exchanges in the field of health.
Organized by the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco and France’s National Academy of Medicine, with the support of the Moroccan Embassy in France, this event aims to take stock of medical cooperation initiatives to date and explore new prospects, particularly in the hospital sector. The program includes thematic sessions on major issues such as HIV, the role of the African Health Organization, cancers, pediatrics, organ transplants and psychiatry.
