Nairobi Lady Who Went Blind after 14-Year Struggle with Diabetes Seeks KSh 632k to Pay Bill

Nairobi: A 25-year-old woman identified as Frida has shared her 14-year struggle with diabetes that has now culminated with a disability and KSh 632,000 hospital bill.
How did Wambui lose her sight?
Speaking to .co.ke from her Kenyatta University Referral Hospital bed, Frudah shared that she had been admitted for three weeks and was finally discharged on March 27, 2025.
"I have been suffering from diabetes for 14 years now, and recently , things escalated, and I fell into depression. The latter made me start ailing from hypertension and that is what caused me to become blind," said Fridah.
"In that process, I also got kidney failure; today Iam feeling a little better because I just had dialysis,"said the girl who had been at the facility since February 2025.
How can Kenyans help Wambui?
Fridah has been admitted at Kenyatta Referral Hospital for the last three weeks, and she was discharged on Thursday, March 27, 2025. This was readmission because she was admitted in December 2024.
As of March 28, her hospital bill stood at Ksh 632, 000. However, she is still in the hospital, and the bills continue to grow daily.
"I humbly appeal to each one of you to continue supporting me in any way possible. Any contribution will make a significant difference when we come together," she said.
Fridah and her grandmother remain hopeful, leaning on faith and the goodwill of others.
