Pittsburgh Nabs Two Finalists for 2025 James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards
The nominations for the 2025 James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards have been released, with Pittsburgh being included in the list.
Pittsburgh is featured in the categories for Best New Restaurant and Humanitarian of the Year Awards.
The Fet-Fisk Restaurant and Bar in Bloomfield has been shortlisted as one of the top ten contenders for Best New Restaurant. Although the establishment officially started operations in 2019, it initially operated differently from conventional restaurants. Every Monday night, they organized pop-up dining events throughout the city with entirely fresh menus each time.
In 2024, they launch a conventional physical store in Bloomfield.
As stated on their website, they showcase local seasonal produce along with seafood and meats that come from sustainable sources.
At the same time, Chad Houser, who founded and leads Café Momentum as its CEO, received a nomination for Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Café Momentum, although based in Dallas and established as a nonprofit eatery by Houser, selected Pittsburgh as its premier out-of-state location when it expanded in March 2023.
The eatery assists juveniles with criminal records by imparting vital life skills along with educational and job prospects inside the realm of cooking and hospitality.

The 35th yearly James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony is scheduled for June 16 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
